What is a heat pump?
A heat pump...
Well, it pumps heat.
And, despite its name, it‘s actually used to both heat and cool your home.
Don‘t be fooled.
It may look like an AC unit, but it ain‘t!

It looks a lot like a central air conditioner and furnace set up, with a cheese-grater in your yard and big metal box inside.
Zap zap, buzz buzz.
It runs on electricity.

Heat pumps play with pressure to pull off some down-right magic.
Pump heat out.
On a warm day, the heat pump will mess with pressure inside its hoses to move heat from inside to outside.
Pump heat in.
On cold days it runs in reverse to warm your home right when you need it.
It won‘t live rent free.
Heat pumps naturally save cost and energy.
If you live somewhere where the temperature doesn‘t swing all that much, you can typically take advantage of the magically efficient heat pump. But, when a heat pump isn‘t quite powerful enough, a central AC unit may take its place or a furnace may be added to keep you comfy.
