Custom Air – Laying A Solid Foundation

Interview with Brandon Tarnow from Custom Air in Salado, Texas

This week we’re pleased to feature Custom Air A/C Heating & Refrigeration. They were founded recently – February, 2016 – and though they are a small team, they are already providing the kind of customer service and quality work that we admire. Plus, Custom Air is involved in community service, giving back to their community. We love to highlight air conditioning contractors like Brandon who operate with integrity.

Brandon got his start in the HVAC industry the way many of us do…with family. Brandon’s dad worked in the trade for years and passed his experience on to Brandon when he joined his dad in the family business, working side by side. Years later, Brandon’s dad retired and Brandon went to learn from others in the industry to fully develop his skills. Fast forward to the beginning of 2016, when Brandon decided to take the plunge and start his own HVAC service and installation company.

Two core values that Custom Air carries with them to each and every project are honesty and respect. They also have a policy to buy American when possible. These values have landed them clients such as a local school district, a popular restaurant chain, and a prominent local religious facility, among many others.

Custom Air works with three custom home builders in the area. One of the projects that Brandon is most proud of is when he had the opportunity to install spray foam insulation and two complete systems in a large custom home. Spray foam is another one of the services offered by Custom Air, which compliments their philosophy to offer high efficiency, energy-saving options for their customers. Some contractors quote the cheapest option, but Brandon likes to go the extra mile to optimize air flow and offer a home energy analysis and indoor air quality options as well. For this particular custom home project, Custom Air was able to greatly reduce the homeowner’s energy bills through smart application of energy saving products.

One of the things we admire the most about people is when they choose to volunteer their time and resources to serve others in need. This is a value that is core here at so when we heard that Custom Air shares this value, we were excited to learn more. Brandon and his team volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house, a nonprofit organization designed to support children receiving medical attention by offering them a home-like experience during treatment. Brandon is big into working with the community, helping out when he can.

In less than a year, Custom Air is already making a great impact on the community through charitable efforts and quality workmanship. They are building a solid reputation in the Salado area and they’re growing through relationships and referrals. Custom Air works on all types of projects from large to small and they are available 24 hours a day for emergency repair. Kudos to Brandon – starting your own business is not easy but he’s making it happen.
